In the past few years, the Salvation of Bulgarian Jews during World War II (1943) has drawn widespread public attention through various events and activities performed by the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the University of Plovdiv. The 70th anniversary of these historical events will be commemorated at the University of Plovdiv on March 8, 2013 in a one day international conference, organized by the Faculty of Philosophy and History.
The historical, theological, political and philosophical aspects of anti-Semitism will be discussed at the conference. A number of lectures will be given by world-known scholars of history, theology, religion, public administration, political science, etc. Question and discussion sessions will be held during the conference. Also a documentary poster exhibition on the salvation of Bulgarian Jews in different cities and villages across the country will be included.
We do believe that bringing up these contemporary historical events to the focus of public attention will preserve our national dignity and provide a relevant basis for understanding these complex historical events and a good example for the next generation of the Republic of Bulgaria.
